Thomas Chipman & Pastry Pantry

Oct 5, 2009 by

I went to the Gluten Free Food Show on the weekend for the first time – I couldn’t believe how many people were there, it was packed! There was a good selection of gluten free products, lots of samples to taste which is always a good thing :)

My 2 favourite picks from the show are:

chipmanchips

The chipman who make great corn chips and totally natural so you don’t feel too guilty having a packet…they have them at Coles in the organic food / gluten free food section

pastrypantry

The Pastry Pantry make ready rolled pastry sheets you can keep in your freezer – and they taste really good! They are in the freezer section at Coles.

I’ve also updated my Quick Looks page with a few more restaurants that are on my list to try out

Im glad to see that at last we can buy some pastry sheets that are gluten free.
Looking forward to making a quiche that actually has a base. Yum.

In regards to the chipman….I don’t like them. If I’m going to take on the calories I’d prefer to buy the regular chips. I really want to try the pastry though . I will never buy the chips…….I find them tasting like plastic bag with less crunch and taste….sorry chipman..maybe I just got a bad batch…

  4. I used to get Thomas Chipman’s Splendid Cheese flavour at Woolworths and they were Yum! Boy they must have been a *very* popular product as Woolworths basically swept them out of their supermarkets last year when the new “Macro” branding took effect. They then *tried* to produce a similar style of corn chip with cheese dusted on it, but the quality and flavour are in no way nearly as fresh.

One thing I wish woolworths would stop doing is getting rid of popular products that sell well. I think we need to stop buying products that Woolworths makes if it has been made because the other product was removed from the store. They may just then realise and bring these other brands back. I have posted on this some more at http://hubpages.com/hub/Woolworths
