Sparks Cafe, Richmond
This review is a short and sweet one. Sparks Cafe…what a breath of fresh air to the Bridge Rd restaurant strip! This is by far the best restaurant I’ve been to on Bridge Rd. It’s quite small, but such a nice atmosphere, great service, beautiful food, value for money, good gluten free options…what more can you ask for?

Yay! I’m going to take responsibility for this one.
Shortly after they opened, I was walking past and they lured me in for lunch. Of course I did the “What’s gluten free?” thing and the chef made something up on the spot for me.
I ended up having a long chat with them about gluten free.
When they revised their menu, they made a point of doing some gluten free stuff and marking it up clearly.
I’ve eaten there several times now, and never had a problem. I also had a birthday function there, and the finger food was no problem for them.
I am very disappointed by this restaurant!! The staff here are RUDE! If you’re up for a horrible dining experience, this one tops the list! Not only are the staff RUDE to you over the phone, they’re WORSE when they’re serving you (if you’re lucky enough to get any service at ALL!!). The staff must be racist or something, as I was being ignored and refused (same thing was happening to another couple)! Apparently the motto of this restaurant is to ALWAYS say no. Everything I asked for was refused, from the food, to the drinks and dessert. There was no apologies or pleases or thank yous and certainly no tip for them! Food came out about 1hr and a half. No apologies again. The vegetables must be frozen, as they were cold and hard..
I am in disbelief at how shockingly horrid this restaurant is! I cannot believe the reviews on various websites, saying what a good restaurant it is, when really, its once of the worst!! They must’ve written the reviews themselves or treated the reviewers differently, as the experience I had was nothing short of revolting!

That’s really disappointing to hear, I ate here and loved it, had a really good experience
