Right in the thick of Brunswick street is this family run Malaysian restaurant. The very flamboyant owner’s wife is coeliac so gluten free meals are very well catered for. The menu doesn’t say what is gluten free so you’ll need to ask. There’s a good range of dishes, great for sharing with a group of friends. The salt and pepper squid was amazing! They also have a wide range of beer from around the world – none gluten free but makes for an interesting beer tasting session for non-GF diners.

If you go for a birthday, be careful if the owner finds out – you’ll get a banana fritter with 2 strategically placed ice cream scoops as your birthday cake!

They also do take away.

It’s usually quite busy so best to book ahead for weekends. Their website is at www.penangaffair.com.au
