Lord of the Fries
This place is a bit dangerous if you’re walking past it on the way home from work…it’s right next to Flinders St station and the wafts of hot chips can be very tempting! It’s on the corner of Elizabeth and Flinders st, and also has a smaller shop on the Swanston St side of Flinders St station (right opposite Fed Square). Their chips are gluten free and they also do gluten free burger buns which can be quite a rarity!

Great food was amazed when I found out they can do burgers and fries that are Gluten Free,
I’m a little bit addicted to LOTF. Especially at 3am on a Sunday morning. It’s conveniently placed for a drunken banquet, and it’s nice to be able to indulge in Fast Food OTHER than fries for once — they have a wicked gluten free range. I’ve taken off one star because their glutenfree bun is to big to fit in my mouth. So i get really embarrassed when i eat it by myself because no matter how hard i concentrate, i still get sauce all over my face and onions on my lap and my hands smell like faux-meat burger all day.
I actually wanna take another star away because the majority of times that I have gone to LOTF (and I generally only go when i am ABSOLUTELY craving it) they don’t have any GF buns left. i get so VERY vexed when yet again, they tell me they’ve run out of GF buns. Yeeearrrgghhhh.
Next time Im in the CBD and my Gluten Free son say’s I’m starving….I’ll head here…sounds fast and safe…..great find.
Update: there is now also a LOTF in Chadstone Shopping Centre, near Hoyts!
Hey just came from Lord of the Fries. Not sure if this matters but I asked if any gluten foods like their onion rings are cooked in the same cooker as their (gluten free fries) fries and they are. I informed the manager this could cause cross contamination. The manager said because only a minute amount of gluten gets through it shouldnt matter. I dont know about you but a minute amount is too much.
So Ive chosen to stay away from LOTF due to possible cross contamination.
their fries etc ARE cooked with gluten containing food (onion rings) – i emailed to check head office as the girl who served me literally had two tables of info, one saying rings were GF and one saying they weren’t. they’re not GF – so take care…. do you guys think it’s therefore ‘unsafe’ for celiacs? this ‘contamination’ thing confuses me… would such fries really be contaminated with enough gluten to trigger the autoimmune response???
