Gurkha's, Prahran & Brunswick

Dec 28, 2009 by

It’s always surprised me that there are not more gluten free Indian / Sri Lankan types of restaurants given a lot of this cuisine is gluten free – a curry made from scratch rarely contains gluten. Gurkha’s is not Indian, it’s Nepalese, but it does have a few curry options. I’d never eaten Nepalese food before coming here and was very impressed – very interesting flavours. The layout is quite casual – there’s also traditional seating area at the front.

There are several locations around Melbourne, I went to the Prahran restaurant and from their website it looks like the Brunswick restaurant also has gluten free options. I’m not sure whether the other locations cater for gluten free, it’s best to phone ahead to double check.

Does anyone know of any other places that have gluten free curry?

Saffron Cottage, 1531 Burwood Highway, Tecoma, also has beautiful food and they are completely Coeliac aware. I’ve eaten there 4 times and had different curries. They do an amazing Chicken Pakora with chick pea batter, that tasted so good, I thought there was no way it could be gluten free!
